‘The game clock skipping beats’ means that the scoreboard during the last second of the game doesn’t show all tenths of a second (0.9…0.8…0.7…0.6 etc) but instead jumps, for example, directly from 1.0 to 0.6 and then to zero.
If this happens, it is because the computer running the scores app is an underpowered one, or alternatively there are other applications running background consuming the computer CPU (Central Processing Unit). This results in the display screen not being updated within the 100 milliseconds, as it should.
Do note that even if the displayed clock is skipping beats, the actual game clock isn’t affected. The last second still lasts one second, despite the clock showing only some of the tenths-of-seconds.
Solutions:
- The only permanent solution is to upgrade and/or clean the computer.
- As a workaround, you can change the scores app only to show only seconds, not tenths of seconds, during the last minute.
